Managing Director (m/w/d) – DIGITAL SPACE

To further strengthen our entrepreneurship offerings, HHL will launch its new tech start-up incubation program “DIGITAL SPACE – The HHL Digital Transformation Platform” supported by the EXIST program of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi). For our DIGITAL SPACE we invite applications for the role of

Managing Director (m/w/d) – DIGITAL SPACE
(full-time, 4 year contract with the opportunity to extend)

Together with the Academic Lead for DIGITAL SPACE, the Managing Director will form the leadership team of the initiative. The Managing Director will be responsible for building up the incubation program and managing daily operations together with a small, dedicated team. As DIGITAL SPACE is designed to be an open platform, the acquisition of (corporate) partners for the incubation program is an integral part of the role, as well as the organization of networking events to help forming interdisciplinary founder teams.

The main objective for DIGITAL SPACE is to incubate successful start-ups with digital business models in Leipzig – with founder teams of HHL students as well as outside founders from research and practice. Being an important part of our strategy, the leadership team of DIGITAL SPACE will report directly to the Dean of HHL.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a candidate that holistically covers competencies in the areas of early-stage entrepreneurship support, managing incubation activities in the field of digital business models and creating partnerships with external stakeholders.

The successful candidate must have deep applicable knowledge about start-up incubation and acceleration of digital business models as well as the challenges of starting up and scaling digital business models. A strong network in the German and/or European Entrepreneurship Ecosystem is advantageous. Therefore, substantial practical experience in e.g. (corporate) incubation or acceleration programs or a leading role in a start-up are required.

At HHL, we actively pursue a policy of diversity and gender equality in all areas of our activities. The role offers the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree at HHL in our part-time Ph.D. program.
Interested candidates can contact Assistant Professor Dr. Dominik Kanbach (d.kanbach (a)hhl (Punkt) de) for further details about DIGITAL SPACE and the respective role. Applications should be submitted electronically to the Dean of HHL, Prof. Dr. Stephan Stubner (stephan.stubner(a)hhl (Punkt) de). The application package should include your CV with at least three referees with contact information.
We expect the successful candidate to assume the role in Q2 2020, the position will remain open until filled.
